Animesh Roy qualifies for Government of India’s 9th Edition of Inspire-MANAK Exhibition and Competition
Animesh Roy, a Class 10 student from FBS, participated in the 9th National Level Exhibition & Project Competition (NLEPC) under Inspire Awards – MANAK.
He presented the “Cleaning Bot” under the Idea/Innovation category. The Cleaning Bot is a motor driven machine that helps to clean the floor in public buildings that becomes regularly filthy due to mass movement. It consists of a water absorbent mop that removes the extra water that has been spilled on the floor by someone or by rain. The mop is propelled by a servo motor that continuously rotates in the clockwise and anti-clockwise direction increasing the mop’s efficiency. The Cleaning Bot has two wheels which are driven by DC motors. A TSOP / IR sensor is installed in the front to avoid collisions and assist in detecting its own path. The Bot is powered by a rechargeable battery and has the framework of a shopping cart which makes it compact and easily maneuverable automatically and manually.
‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (INSPIRE) is a flagship programme of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. The INSPIRE Awards – MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge), executed by DST with National Innovation Foundation – India (NIF), aims to target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications to foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children between 10-15 years.
Animesh was one of the three students from Bhubaneswar and 71 nationally selected to participate in the event held in New Delhi on 15 September 2022.
