FBS organises Career Counselling Programme for students of Class XI and XII
FBS organized a career counselling programme for Class XI and XII students on 06 July 2024,with the aim of providing essential insights and guidance as they navigate their senior secondary years and prepare for their future endeavours.
Jasobant Narayan Singhlal, a distinguished Career Counsellor, motivational trainer, and Employability and Parenting Coach with over 17 years of experience in training and counselling across India, served as the speaker. He is also the Founder Director of Career Map, dedicated to establishing Career Counselling cells across CBSE, ICSE schools, Colleges, and Universities in Odisha.
Tailored specifically for science stream students of CBSE schools in India, Mr. Singhlal introduced students to a spectrum of career paths within science, including engineering, medicine, biotechnology, pharmacy, environmental sciences, and computer science. He provided comprehensive information on the educational pathways necessary for these careers, spanning from undergraduate programmes like B.Tech, B.Sc, and MBBS to postgraduate options such as M.Tech, M.Sc, MD/MS, and specialized certifications.
During the session, Mr. Singhlal emphasized the criticality of developing technical skills such as laboratory techniques and programming languages, as well as essential soft skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. He delved into current trends within the science and technology sectors, highlighting emerging technologies, research opportunities, and their implications for future career prospects.
Guidance on selecting suitable colleges or universities, understanding entrance exams such as JEE Main/Advanced, NEET, and AIIMS, and navigating the admission process were pivotal components of his discussion. Mr. Singhlal also explored various career pathways post-graduation, both domestically and internationally, underscoring the demand for skilled professionals in diverse scientific disciplines.
Encouraging students to explore interdisciplinary fields combining science with other disciplines like bioinformatics, environmental engineering, and biomedical sciences, Mr. Singhlal inspired them to broaden their career horizons. He concluded by motivating students to remain proactive in seeking opportunities and support from counsellors, teachers, and mentors. With determination and focus, he assured them they would confidently navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, wishing them continued growth and success in their academic and professional journeys.
