Students of Future Bhubaneswar School Engage with Indian Diaspora at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Exhibition
Around 80 students from Class 9 of Future Bhubaneswar School visited the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Exhibition held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on January 10, 2025. The exhibition, part of the 18th PBD Convention, showcased Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and traditions, featuring traditional crafts, interactive digital experiences, and historical exhibits.
The exhibition was a treasure trove of knowledge, with four distinct themes that highlighted the Indian diaspora’s contributions and Odisha’s cultural richness. One section, “Vishwaroop Ram – The Universal Legacy of Ramayana,” presented a curated juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary art forms, showcasing the timeless epic of Ramayana. Another section acknowledged the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the development of technology in the world.
The students were also taken on a journey through the spread and evolution of the Indian diaspora, with rare documents showcasing people who migrated from Mandvi in Gujarat to Muscat in Oman. Additionally, the exhibition highlighted Odisha’s heritage and cultural traditions through art and craft forms, including traditional Pattachitra and Sambalpuri sarees.
During their visit, the students participated in various activities and competitions, including essay writing, poster exhibitions, and quizzes. They also interacted with industry leaders and dignitaries, gaining valuable insights into various fields and Odisha’s cultural heritage. The event provided a unique learning experience, allowing students to connect with the Indian diaspora and appreciate their contributions. Overall, the visit was an enriching experience for the students, broadening their understanding of India’s cultural diversity and the diaspora’s role in shaping the nation’s future.
